Jon Smith is a great lyricist who captures the feeling and atmosphere of songs with his unique, punchy and instantly recognisable directness which always fits exceptionally well with the accompanying music.

He has written the lyrics for a number of Aztec Warrior's songs, which appear on the first two albums Return and The Soft Songs, namely :
